Camden Presbyterian Church is a community of God's people who:
All by God's grace and in prayerful dependence proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord, teaching God's Word, so that as Jesus' disciples we will love God, love each other,
and love the Camden community, living ready for Jesus' return.
By God's grace and in the empowering of the Holy Spirit we seek to:
KNOW God and each other in Christ
LOVE God and each other in Christ

SERVE God and each other in Christ
GO into God's world serving others and proclaiming Christ

We are a church which is Evangelical, Reformed and Presbyterian. Everyone is most welcome!

We rejoice and praise God for His goodness, believing and holding to the truth that:

  • The Bible, both the Old and New Testaments is God's Word, God speaking to us. It is inerrant and infallible.

  • God is eternal, all powerful, sovereign over all things and is personal. He is One God in Three Persons, He is Triune - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • We respond to God as he calls us to in His revelation to us in the Bible of who He is and what He has done, not as we so choose or determine.

  • God created this world, and he made it good and for people to know and love Him, and love another, and to be stewards of His good world. But all humankind has rejected Him and is lost in sin, alienated from God and under His perfect and just judgement, and unable in any way to save themselves.

  • But God in His great love and righteousness has revealed Himself in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully man, and who through His life, death, resurrection and ascension has opened a new and living way through the forgiveness of sin for us to know and love God forever (this the 'gospel'' which means 'good news', of Jesus!). Jesus is the only way to salvation, the only way to knowing God, the only way to true life, real peace and genuine hope.

  • God calls on all people to believe (put their trust in Jesus and what He has done to bring forgiveness and into a loving relationship with God), and repent (turn from their rejection of Him and live with Jesus as the King of their life).

  • All those who put their trust in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord receive salvation and new life in Christ. This is entirely a gift of God by His grace through Jesus. We do not and cannot achieve or contribute to salvation by anything we do, it is only by trusting in what God has done for us in and through Jesus as God works sovereignly in our heart to draw us to Himself.

  • All who put their trust in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord receive the Holy Spirit when they put their trust in Him. The Holy Spirit lives in us and applies the truth of the Bible to our hearts and minds, strengthening us as disciples of Jesus, ever transforming us more and more into His likeness, and giving us gifts to serve Jesus in His church and in all of life.

  • Jesus Christ will return physically to this earth, making all things new and His perfect love and Lordship gloriously pervading the entire New Creation.

  • Every person will face God's perfect and just judgement. Those who know Jesus as their Saviour and King, all because of what He has achieved on their behalf, will receive eternal life,. Those who do not will receive eternal punishment, the culmination of a life lived rejecting God and His message to them of Jesus Christ.

  • As His forgiven and redeemed people, we live a new and transformed life in Christ according to the whole counsel of God's Word. Though never perfectly in this life, more and more through His grace and by the empowering of the Holy Spirit we grow as disciples of Jesus who reflect the love and Lordship of Jesus in all of life, in all of our relationships and in everything we do.

  • Though we must each respond to God and what He has done in Jesus Christ individually, when we do we are brought into the community of His church, His redeemed people. This means it is vital for us to be part of a local church gathered together worshipping God each week and loving and encouraging each other as we live for Christ in all of life.

  • Life is messy and life can be tough! The church is not made up of people "who have it all together", but of those who know and admit their need for Jesus, and in His grace and goodness have been made a part of His people through the gospel and who proclaim His love and truth to the world around them.

Our church is part of the Presbyterian Church of Australia in NSW. Therefore, our supreme standard is the Bible, the Word of God, the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Our subordinate standard is the Westminster Confession of Faith as read in light of the Declaratory Statement (the Westminster Confession of Faith is a document which summaries what we believe the Bible teaches).
